Lauren Delahanty was a beloved resident of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and the principal of Prairie Elementary School in Buffalo Grove who was loved and cherished by a lot of people. She was well respected in her community as someone with a beautiful personality and good heart. Sadly Lauren passed away unexpectedly leaving behind family and friends with only memories of the life she lived.

She served as assistant principal at Twin Groves Middle School in Buffalo Grove since August 2021. In that position, she is responsible for the instruction, supervision and academic progression of more than 620 students in grades 6-8. She has also served as an instructional leader for teaching staff, instructional coaches and related service providers.

She started her career in education as a school psychologist/IEP team chairperson and has also worked with students with executive functioning impairments and supervised employees in this area. She served as a school psychologist and then Student Success coordinator in Zion before joining Dist. 96 in 2021.

She was a friend to many, a source of strength to those in need, and a steadfast presence in the lives of those she loved. A devoted daughter and caring sister, Lauren’s warmth and selflessness defined her character. In every interaction, she brought calm, compassion, and genuine connection. She was the life of the party.

While the cause of her passing has been reported to be a scuba diving accident, what remains clear is the deep mark she left on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family and friends are devastated, and the broader community stands in solidarity with them, remembering a man who gave so much of herself to others.

The family will be announcing Lauren Delahanty’s obituary, visitation, and funeral arrangements in the coming days. In memory of Lauren Delahanty, family, friends and the community reflect on a life that, while cut short, was lived with great love and purpose. She will be deeply missed but forever be remembered.
