Pete Ramsey Bartonville IL Death – The band Revel in Red shared with the public on Sunday that bass guitar player Pete Ramsey of Bartonville was killed earlier this month in a crash near Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Missouri. The single-vehicle crash happened about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 shortly after the band performed a concert there.
Last Friday, after rocking the stage with him as if there were, in fact, no tomorrow, I lost one of the most important humans in my life – and the world lost a prototype – a one of a kind mind and spirit who spent his time here impacting lives.
Where I usually have an easy time choosing the words for describing things – I can’t quite put my finger on what to say about Pete Ramsey. I am still discovering daily what he meant to me.
Know this – he was a loving husband, son and father, a friend to many with a heart for giving, a BRILLIANT debater, a meticulous businessman and hopeless tinkerer. And he EMBODIED rock n roll. I was lucky enough to be an audience to his energy every weekend. Many onstage private conversations, improvised dance routines and one sageful master of his craft trying desperately to teach this old dog new tricks (in our last performance, he scolded me onstage for not throwing out enough of our custom picks).
Pure rock in human form. This life will never be the same without Pete – and I will miss him until the day I die.
